  7. SAVE, VU/TEXT's In-house Library System for Newspapers and other news media
  8. organizations provides a highly-customizable user-friendly interface to a
  9. powerful full-text-retrieval database.  Text may be searched full-text, by
  10. fields, by combinations of fields, or by combination(s) of field(s) and
  11. full-text.  SAVE is the in-house system of choice for more than 55 newspapers
  12. in the United States, Canada and Latin America, and was originally developed
  13. by VU/TEXT in 1986 in response to market demands.  VU/TEXT has provided
  14. library solutions to the media industry for more than ten years, with both
  15. in-house and service bureau products.  VU/TEXT currently provides library
  16. services to over 80 newspapers (including SAVE customers).  SAVE gives the
  17. news media organization full control over storage, maintenance, and
  18. distribution of its data.  Standard output is supported to a wide variety of
  19. workstations and printers.  Optional output modules include fax and
  20. high-volume batches via tape or transmission.  The new SAVElink product allows
  21. access to the SAVE database from external systems using the user interface
  22. native to that system.  SAVE is currently available for IBM RS/6000 (AIX), DEC
  23. VAX (VMS), and AT&T/NCR 3B2 (UNIX) computers as well as, Intel 80386/486
  24. computers (SCO UNIX).  It is available with or without custom data input
  25. filters, which allow input from a wide variety of word processing, text
  26. editing, typesetting, and pagination systems.
